Welcome to Nix Style Life

I'm Krista.

I've been behind a camera for over 17 years, and somewhere along the way, life brought us to a little farm in Fairview, Tennessee.

What started as a photography business has grown into something that looks a lot more like our everyday life.

There's always something happening around here. Animals to tend to, something growing (or needing to be planted), projects that probably should have been finished yesterday, and a whole lot of learning as we go.

Photography is still a big part of who I am, but these days, so is everything happening outside the frame.

A Little About My Photography

I've always been drawn to natural light, the little details, and those moments that happen when nobody is really paying attention to the camera.

I don't need everything to be perfectly posed or everyone looking at me at the same time.

Some of my favorite images are the ones that happen in between.

The way your kids reach for you. The way the light falls across someone's face. Those little pieces of life that might not seem like much until you look back at them years later.

That's what I've always loved about photography.

Since moving to the farm, I've had the opportunity to bring that same approach to a place that's become pretty special to our family.

Photography at The Farm Next Door

Most of my photography these days happens right here on our farm.

It's a place where kids can be kids, families can spend a little time together, and we can make some photographs along the way.

I keep things pretty relaxed. We'll find the good light, wander around a little, and see what unfolds.

I still love a good family portrait, but I'm just as interested in everything that happens before and after it.

More Than Photography

Nix Style Life has become a place to share a little bit of everything.

The animals, the garden, our homeschooling days, things we're learning about caring for the land, and whatever else life happens to bring our way.

Some days it's beautiful. Some days it's muddy, messy, and nothing goes according to plan.

Usually, it's a little of both.

And that's pretty much life around here.
